On Thursday 6th November, Mr Jean-René Palacio, Artistic Director of Monte Carlo SBM presented the 3rd edition of the Monte Carlo Jazz Festival that will take place from 25th to 29th November 2008. The third edition is focused on innovation, with Moods opening the doors to the Festival and a major event that will feature one of the greatest jazz musicians, Marcus Miller and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Monte Carlo for a first worldwide performance. The young generation will also be represented by Thomas Dutronc, the gipsy jazz child and Malene Mortensen in the Salle Garnier. Herbie Hancock and Manu Katché will also be sharing the stage at the Opera House much to the delight of all connoisseurs. There will also be a series of festive concerts with the Franck Mead Band, Ben Sidran & Georgie Fame, Avishai Cohen, the Jonathan Gritella Trio, the Joe Pisto Quartet, not forgetting the local scene with the Monaco Jazz Chorus. The Alessandro Collina Trio & Andrea Celeste featuring Guido will perform at the American Bar in the Hotel de Paris and a free concert in line with the tradition of the New Orleans street bands will be held in the Place du Casino.
